Technical characteristics of centrifugal casting
Centrifugal casting is a technology and method that liquid metal is injected into the high-speed rotating mold to make the liquid metal fill the mold and form the casting. Because of the centrifugal movement, the liquid metal can fill the mold well in radial direction and form the free surface of the casting; the cylindrical inner hole can be obtained without using the core; the gas and inclusion in the liquid metal can be eliminated; the crystallization process of the metal is affected, so as to improve the mechanical and physical properties of the casting.
According to the spatial position of the mold rotation axis, the common centrifugal casting can be divided into horizontal centrifugal casting and vertical centrifugal casting. The centrifugal casting is called horizontal centrifugal casting when the rotating axis of the mold is horizontal or the angle between the axis and the horizontal line is very small (4 °). Vertical centrifugal casting is called vertical centrifugal casting when the rotating axis of mold is in vertical state. Centrifugal casting with inclined shaft is called centrifugal casting with inclined axis, which has a large angle with horizontal line and vertical line.
Technical characteristics of centrifugal casting:
1. There is almost no metal consumption in gating system and riser system, which can improve the process yield
2. Therefore, the metal filling capacity can be greatly improved, the ratio of casting wall thickness to length or diameter can be reduced, and the production process of sleeve and pipe castings can be simplified. the production process of long tubular castings can be simplified
3. The casting has high density, less porosity and slag inclusion, and high mechanical properties
4. It is easy to manufacture composite metal castings such as steel backed copper sleeve and bimetallic roll, etc. when forming the castings, the filling capacity of metal can be improved by centrifugal movement, so thin-walled castings can be produced.
